JOB TITLE: Campus Pastor
DEPARTMENT:   Student Services    
REPORTS TO:   Director Student Services
STATUS:   Full time, Regular, Exempt (Support Raised Funded Position)

PURPOSE: Will oversee spiritual life activities on campus under the direction of the Director of Student Services seeking to build relationships with students as a means to encourage spiritual formation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Fundraises for the support of general college operations. 
  2. Oversee corporate worship: chapel, baptism, communion, music and worship including “Story” and devotions. Schedule speakers, reserve space and handle administrative details.  
  3. Oversee “pastor-in-residence” program.
  4. Oversee worship arts: dance team, choir, ensemble, etc. - including training and supervision of student committees and development and implementation of service/ministry and fundraising trips.
  5. Plans, leads and has oversight of the mentoring program on campus.
  6. Schedule and organize special events such as conferences, meetings, seminars and retreats such as the annual spiritual emphasis week.
  7. Oversee prayer ministry and visits from prayer team.
  8. Be available for pastoral care for students/staff including counseling individuals regarding interpersonal and religious issues.
  9. Keep standard operating procedures (SOP) manual updated for the Campus Pastor Position.
  10. Fundraises for the support of general college operations. 
  11. Carries out other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Worship Coordinator, Pastoral Intern, ministry volunteers, student workers.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Master’s degree in Christian Ministry or similar preferred.
  2. Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native populations.
  3. Must be socially perceptive to be aware of others reactions and understand why they react the way they do.
  4. Must be able to establish and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships.
  5. Must have the ability to identify the developmental needs of others and provide coaching and mentoring help.
  6. Must be sensitive to the needs of others, requiring a cooperative attitude and the ability to deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations.
  7. Cultural sensitivity and cultural awareness as well as a teachable spirit.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Must understand and maintain confidentiality of all information seen or heard.
  10. Must be able to work independently and show good judgment.
  11. Needs to be organized and show good time management skills.
  12. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Song Select and have good data entry skills.
  13. Must be reliable and dependable with regular, timely attendance.
  14. Must be willing to agree to and sign statement of Evangelical Covenant Affirmations.
  15. Must be able to pass a background check.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
These duties will be conducted in an office environment with limited exposure to hazardous materials.  May require time out of the office and off campus during activities.  Must have adequate sight to meet the responsibilities of the job.
